Sensor unit

The young Belgian hightec start-up iQunet develops IoT solutions that address the limits of wireless battery-operated sensor networks. Their team has experience in techniques such as electronic (chip) design, radio frequency technology and signal processing.

iQunet developed a series of wireless sensor units to monitor all kinds of environmental factors in real-time in a machine park. The unit measures vibrations, temperature, proximity, humidity, talus, CO2-level and others.

iQunet sensors for wireless asset monitoring can be mounted on machines or rotating equipment in work or living spaces. It automatically creates a network that navigates around obstacles and through walls. The base stations can virtually operate an unlimited number of sensor nodes. A small UNIX server mounted on a DIN rail continuously analyzes and optimizes the network to create the most efficient paths and to balance the load over the available paths. For this technology we developed a compact waterproof housing in which iQunet’s technological know-how is protected as much as possible. We also provided support in the development of the PCB layout in order to obtain a housing that is as compact as possible. We thought about every millimeter.

The result is a production-friendly housing that allows all kinds of PCBs from iQunet to be filled with PUR. In this way we achieve the intended water-tightness on the one hand, but on the other hand this also protects the technology. The collaboration had a very positive atmosphere. The customer was so satisfied that he recently contacted us again to develop an ATEX version in the next phase.
