Mechanical aspects of a new product launch
Petersime is world leader in the development of incubators, hatchery equipment and turnkey hatcheries. Thanks to years of experience in hatchery design and background knowledge on hatchery equipment and incubation, they offer outstanding expertise and support to maximize the return on investment for their customers.
With a sales network in more than 60 countries, the company covers a local and global proficiency. Pascal Schouppe, product design engineer at Verhaert Consulting, joined the Product Design R&D team of Petersime to coordinate mechanical aspects.
The headquarters and production facilities of Petersime are located in Olsene, at a site of 40.000 m2. Whereas in 1949 Petersime relied on the commitment of about 20 employees, the company now employs more than 250 people. With offices in Brazil, China, Russia, Malaysia and India, Petersime commits to a dedicated customer service worldwide. Their state-of-the-art automated machines are set up in more than 150 countries all over the world.
Petersime has established a leadership position, an international reputation and dynamic corporate culture. By means of continuous investments and research in order to optimize the hatching process and chick output, the company has been able to guarantee optimum quality and service for over 60 years. From installations to troubleshooting services, customers can rely on certified professionals from the very start of their operations until the end of the life span of the incubators and beyond.
The high quality of the incubators and hatchery equipment is also a result of the complete in-house development. This is where the Research & Development department plays an integral role, as it is responsible for the design, prototyping and testing of all products. The team mainly focuses on 3 interfering areas: mechanical, electr(on)ical and software development.
Pascal coordinates all mechanical aspects from a completely new product that will be launched in 2020.
Since last summer, Pascal Schouppe joined the Product Design R&D team as an external consultant to coordinate all mechanical aspects. In his team, they set up value engineering meetings and continuous improvement sessions on a regular basis.
The real challenge for him comes with the ‘Bios2020’ project that started earlier this year. This will lead to a completely new product launch in 2020 by improving and/or enhancing the aesthetics, technology and functionality.
The aim is to innovate on every level to ensure Petersime will remain one step ahead of the competition. As other departments like Marketing, Purchase and Manufacturing are highly involved as well, this project allows him to enlarge his internal network and be more visible throughout the company. All together, they determine the overall success of the near future.
